To Propagate
: 45-60 days cold, moist stratification. Germination with this species can be low for that reason we offer a larger quantity of seeds.
One of our lesser known woodland plants, typically forming large colonies that slowly spread by self-seeding and rhizomes. Great for under the canopy of trees, shaded yards, shade of buildings, etc. where a tough, attractive groundcover is needed and neglected. When combined with other plants forms a great contrast in leaf and flower. Tolerant of full sun to shade.
Jumpseed
is most striking when in flower where its long, slender, wand-like flower stems (up to 16” long) appear in late summer, its tiny jewel-like flowers catching dappled rays of sunlight.
Can be grown in most areas and conditions being drought and wet soil, sun to shade tolerant. The common name comes from the seeds which jump off the plant at the slightest touch.
The seeds are of the native species and not a cultivar or variety of which there are several for this species, typically for variations on the leaf coloration.
Note
: If you order more than one lot of one species of seeds, for example you place two orders of 100 seeds, or whatever variation is offered, we assume you want 200 seeds and your order will be sent in one seed packet.
